How do I find out which version of the JRE I am using?

    Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86, Sun Java Desktop System, Red Hat Linux, SUSE Linux, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 (SP4+), Windows XP (SP1 SP2), Vista, Windows 2003


You can find out which version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that is currently enabled for your browser by going to this page:
Test your Java Virtual Machine (JVM)

If Java is installed, configured and enabled for your browser, then the applet will display the version and the vendor of the Java Runtime Environment.

If the applet is showing that vendor is Microsoft Corp and the version is 1.1.4, then you are using Microsoft VM. Microsoft VM is an older version. Please read this page for instructions on upgrading to the latest version:
