If you are using Windows, open the Java Control Panel by doing the following:
  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Double click Java
  • Enable Caching by doing the following:
Under the General tab, click Settings and make sure Keep temporary files on my computer is checked.

If I am one of the early beta testers of the Java Store who initially registered for the program and received client software prior to July 27, 2009, how do I receive new updates of the beta Java Store client software?

As of the end of July 2009, Sun has simplified the Java Store beta program to eliminate the need for username/password access to get the latest updates to the software. This move is designed to open up the program to a broader range of beta participants. Anyone in the U.S. wishing to download the beta Java Store client and provide us with feedback can do so.

For those beta participants that downloaded their version of the beta Java Store client prior to July 27, 2009, please perform the following steps to stop the beta control system from prompting for a user name and password and to get the latest version of the Java Store client:

  1. Go to the Java Store product page
  2. Click the Get the Java Store Beta button at the bottom of the screen
  3. Enter your email address and system information, then click Submit

If you are not sure when you signed up for and downloaded the Java Store beta, performing the steps above will get you current version. In the future, your system will automatically check for updates every time that you launch the Java Store.
