How do I enable and view the Java Console?

  • Java version(s): 1.4.2_xx, 1.5.0, 6.0

The Java Console provides information about the Java version, user home directory, and any error message that occurs while running an applet or application. You can enable the Java Console for the Windows platform.

Method 1:
  1. Click Start
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Control Panel.
  4. Double click the Java icon.
  5. Click the Advance tab.
  6. Click on the + sign
  7. Select Show Console and click Apply.

Method 2:
  1. Locate Java icon from the System tray on lower right hand side of screen.
  2. Right click on Java icon
  3. Select Open Console.

  1. Click Start --> Settings -- Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the "Java Plug-in" icon.
  3. Click the Basic tab.
  4. Select Show Console and click Apply.
Viewing the Java Console for your Browser
  1. Internet Explorer
    1. From the browser menu bar, click Tools.
    2. Select Sun Java Console.
  1. Mozilla 1.4+
    1. From the browser menu bar, click Tools.
    2. Select Web Development > Java Console.
