You can easily discover new Java and JavaFX applications in the Java Store. Each icon represents an application that you can download and use on your computer. Click a showcase application or click an application icon in the "river" of icons flowing underneath the showcase. To choose an icon from the "river", move the cursor into "river" to halt the flow of icons, then click the icon of an application.
To view the icons in the "river" as a list, click the List icon in the upper left tab. To view applications presorted in What's new, Top Rated or Top Downloads categories, click the corresponding tab. Clicking an application opens the Detail page, which provides more information about the application.
To select an application from the Featured Apps click the icon for that application. When you move your cursor over the price button the label changes to read Buy. The price listed here does not include sales tax. For free applications, the price button reads Free. When you move the cursor over the Free button, the label changes to read Install. Click this button to install the application.
Back to topTo browse applications by category, click a category in the left navigation bar. Go from one category to another by using the Categories drop-down menu and clicking the category name that best describes the type of application you want.
Back to topOn the Home page select a category from the Categories menu. You can sort the applications on any category page by clicking on the Sort by drop down menu and selecting how you want the applications sorted.
Back to topTo search for an application, type a word or phrase in the Search box in the top of the Home page and press Enter or Return on your keyboard. The available applications returned by the search are displayed in the Catalog window.
Back to topA Java Store account is required to purchase applications from the Java Store and enables proper calculation of sales tax. Having an account also enables you to track your purchases and installations of free applications and take advantage of new Java Store features when they are implemented.
You must sign in to your Java Store account before you can purchase an application. To sign in to your Java Store account:
To modify your account information, after you have signed in, click Account in the navigation bar to open the Account Information dialog. Click Modify to open the Sun Online Account Log In page. Update your account information.
Back to topTo try an application without installing it, click the Preview button on the Details page. This feature enables you to test-drive the application before you decide whether or not to install it on your computer.

The Java Store supports purchasing applications by using PayPal only. If you don't have a PayPal account, you will be asked to create one to make a purchase. For details see, Creating a New PayPal Account.
To buy an application click the Buy button for that application. The Sign In to the Java Store dialog appears. If you are not signed in to your Java Store account, you will be prompted to sign in. If you don't have a Java Store account click Create one now!. The Sign Up for a Java Store Account dialog appears.
Enter the appropriate information in each field and click Sign Up.
After you have signed in to your Java Store account, click the Buy button of the application you want to purchase. The Payment Information dialog appears. Enter the appropriate information in the required fields and click Sign Up.
You must use PayPal to purchase applications from the Java Store. If you don't have a PayPal account you can create one at PayPal. To use Simplified Payment for the first time:
If you try to make a purchase with Simplified Payment, but the plan has expired, you will receive a message in the Payment Information dialog prompting you to renew the plan. Click Renew to go to PayPal and renew the plan, then continue with your purchase in the Java Store.
If you try to make a purchase with Simplified Payment, but you have insufficient funds, go to PayPal to increase the amount in your account. Try your purchase again..
To make a PayPal payment without Simplified Payment:
When you sign in to the Java Store you will be prompted to type the user name and password for your Java Store account.
To purchase an application from the Java Store, you must have a PayPal account. If you don't have a PayPal account, register for an account at PayPal, click Pay with PayPal or click Setup Simplified Payment in the Payment Information dialog. A browser window opens at PayPal.com, where you can create a PayPal account.
Back to topThe Java Store collects the state and zip code of your billing address in order to calculate sales tax. The actual sales tax charged is based on the sales tax requirements of the application's author and your local sales tax laws.
Back to topThe easiest way to install an application is to simply drag the icon onto your desktop. You can also install the application by clicking Install on the Details page or on the Catalog page. You must sign in to your Java Store account to install an application. If you try to install an application before signing in to your Java Store account, you will be prompted to sign in.
The applications that you have installed from the Java Store are listed in the My Apps page. To go to the My Apps page, click My Apps on the navigation bar at the top of the Catalog page. Each application listing includes a Launch and an Uninstall button.

On the Details page, you can preview an application by clicking Preview or install an application by clicking Install. You can get help by using the link to the developer's web site, and you can view screen captures of the application. We hope that you enjoy using the applications that you get from the Java Store, but if you need to remove one of them from your computer, you can easily do so by clicking the Uninstall button next to the application in the My Apps page. Click the X in the upper right corner of the My Apps page to return to the Catalog page.
