Known Issues and Limitations

» The Close this Window button doesn't close the Feedback page.
» Deleting an application by any means other than using the Remove button from the My Apps page of the Java Store is not supported.
» Java Store can not establish connection to the server.
» An unclear error message is issued when making a purchase, using a Simplified Payment account, with insufficient funds.
» The Java Store doesn't notify the user of a spending limit when using Simplified Payment.
» An error message stating that the application has been previously purchased is displayed when a user tries to purchase a previously refunded application.
» Icons for updated applications are not displayed in the Detail page.
» Launching the Java Store fails on a computer that has both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Java VM installed.
» Corrupted or missing images when running the Java Store desktop client.

Issue: The Close this Window button doesn't close the Feedback page.

Description: The Close this Window button doesn't close the Feedback page after your comments are submitted.

Workaround: Close this window directly by clicking the X at the top of the window.

Issue: Deleting an application by any means other than using the Remove button from the My Apps page of the Java Store is not supported.

Description: An application that is not uninstalled using the Remove button on the My Apps page will still be shown as an installed application on the My Apps page.

Workaround: None at this time.

Issue: Java Store can not establish connection to the server.

Description: Java Store sometimes can not establish a connection to the Java Store server.

Workaround: Close the Java Store and restart it using the desktop shortcut.

Issue: An unclear error message is issued when making a purchase, using a Simplified Payment account, with insufficient funds.

Description: Attempting to make a purchase with insufficient funds in your Simplified Payment account results in the following error from PayPal, "Your payment can't be completed because the receiver can't accept payments at this time."

Workaround: Go to PayPal to increase the amount in your Simplified Payment account. Try your purchase again.

Issue: The Java Store doesn't notify the user of a spending limit when using Simplified Payment.

Description: The user is given an error message from PayPal that their purchase would exceed the Simplified Payment spending limitation.

Workaround: Make the purchase without using Simplified Payment.

Issue: An error message stating that the application has been previously purchased is displayed when a user tries to purchase a previously refunded application.

Description: When the user uninstalls an application, is refunded the purchase price, and then tries to purchase that application again. An error message stating that the application has been previously purchased is displayed.

Workaround: None

Issue: Icons for updated applications are not displayed in the Detail page.

Description: The icons for updated applications are not displayed in the Detail page until the applications are published.

Workaround: None

Issue: Launching the Java Store fails on a computer that has both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Java VM installed.

Description: When the Java Store is launched on a Windows system with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Java VM installed, the Java Store tries to start, but then an exception occurs, the splash disappears, and the installation fails.

Workaround: Reinstall the 32-bit version of the Java VM. Relaunch the Java Store.

Issue: Corrupted or missing images when running the Java Store desktop client.

Description: If you experience any corrupted or missing images when running the Java Store desktop client, you may have a corrupt image cache.

Workaround: Delete the cache by performing the following steps:

  1. Quit the Java Store desktop client.
  2. Go to the cache directory in one of the following locations on your hard drive:
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\.javastore\cache
    • Windows Vista: C:/Users/<your user name>/AppData/LocalLow/.javastore
    • Windows 7: C:/Users/<your user name>/.javastore
    • Mac: <your home directory>/Library/Application Support/JavaStore/cache
  3. Delete the images directory.
  4. Restart the Java Store desktop client.
