This article applies to:
- Platform(s): Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP, Windows 10
SYMPTOMS
An application that I use is now reporting that it needs an older version of Java that I recently uninstalled.
CAUSE
Most Java applications will work with updated versions of Java. However some applications may break because of security related changes in Java or the publisher has not followed best practices.
Here are some of the steps you can follow to be able to run your application again.
- Contact the publisher and report that the application does not work with the current recommended version of Java.
- Determine which version of Java you need to run application.
- Download and install the installer package from Java Archives page.
